Disabled & Special Need Passengers

Services for Passengers with Reduced Mobility and Special Needs

If you have any type of disability or reduced mobility and need help at the airport, please book assistance in advance with your airline or travel agent. This allows us to ensure that the right support and equipment are ready for you.

How to request assistance

  • At the time of booking your flight—or at least 48 hours before traveling—please contact your airline directly (or through your travel agent) to book assistance.

  • Inform your airline if you plan to travel with your own mobility aid, such as a wheelchair or scooter.

If you are unable to book assistance in advance, please go to the information desk or the special assistance stand located at the entrance of the Departures Terminal and use the phone provided to speak with a member of staff. You may also request help directly at the check-in counter. Assistance will be provided throughout your journey as long as you need it.

If you have booked assistance but cannot travel through the airport without a carer or companion, we will ensure that they can accompany you throughout your journey. For larger groups, it is best to nominate one person to stay with you.


Traveling with an Assistance Dog

  • Assistance dogs are the only dogs permitted in the terminal buildings (other than pets traveling on flights).

  • Notify your airline at least 48 hours in advance if you are traveling with an assistance dog.

  • On arrival at Tbilisi Airport, please go to the information desk or the special assistance stand at the Departures Terminal entrance and dial the number to contact staff.

  • Ensure your dog has the required documentation for travel, including any regulations of the countries you are traveling to and from.


Traveling with Medical Conditions

If you have a pre-existing medical condition and require special assistance, please inform your airline well in advance.


Traveling with Medical Equipment

  • Breathing devices such as personal oxygen concentrators (POC) and CPAP machines are generally permitted on board, but airline approval is required.

  • CPAP devices must fit within the carry-on baggage allowance. Please confirm directly with your airline.


Traveling with a Wheelchair or Mobility Aid

You may travel with your own mobility equipment (wheelchair, mobility scooter, or walker). Please inform your airline in advance.

Departing from Tbilisi Airport

  • You may use your own equipment up to the departure gate.

  • If traveling with an electric wheelchair or scooter, staff will assist you at the gate to safely prepare it for the flight.

  • To avoid delays, please familiarize yourself with how to operate your equipment.

Arriving at Tbilisi Airport

  • Your wheelchair or mobility aid will be delivered to you as you disembark.

  • Staff will unload your equipment from the aircraft hold and bring it to the aircraft door via a lift.

  • If your mobility aid is lost or damaged, please report this immediately at the baggage reclaim hall and complete a report to receive a reference number.


Ambulift and Boarding Assistance

  • Some aircraft use an airbridge, while others require stairs to access the tarmac.

  • If you cannot use the stairs or airbridge, special assistance staff will provide an Ambulift vehicle.

  • The Ambulift raises to the aircraft door and lowers you to ground level before transferring you to the terminal building. Staff will accompany and assist you throughout the process.


Children Traveling Alone

Airlines have different policies and fees regarding unaccompanied minors, as there are no universal international guidelines.

  • Some immigration authorities require additional documentation for children traveling alone, with only one parent/guardian, or with someone other than their legal guardian.

  • Requirements vary by country, so please check with the relevant authorities before traveling to ensure you have all necessary documents.

Each airline has different procedures for domestic animals. You must inquire about this with your airline company. Most airlines do not accept birds and rodents into the cabin. These types of animals may travel in the cargo section of the aircraft. There is a restriction on the number of domestic animals accepted into the cabin.
